College of Education and Human Sciences announces faculty and staff awards

Thirteen faculty and staff members were recognized for excellence in service, mentorship, research, teaching, creativity and innovation during the College of Education and Human Sciences annual Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony on April 16.
Faculty Awards
The Outstanding Community Engagement Award was presented to nutritional sciences professor Dr. Deana Hildebrand. The award recognizes her exceptional creativity and scholarship in the development, application and evaluation of community outreach, extension, engagement and public service programs.
The Global Education Faculty Excellence Award was presented to Dr. Jennifer Sanders, associate professor of literacy education and the Laurence L. and Georgia Ina Dresser Professor. The award honors excellence in international teaching, research and outreach programs.
Dr. Gary Duhon, school psychology professor, received the Graduate Faculty Excellence Award, recognizing his exemplary achievement in leadership, scholarship, professional involvement and university and community service.
The Leadership and Service Excellence Award was presented to Dr. Paulette Hebert, Design, Housing and Merchandising (DHM) professor and Humphreys Chair. The award honors an exceptional level of loyal service to the college, OSU and the broader community.
The Research Excellence Award was presented to Dr. Daniel Lin, associate professor of nutritional sciences. The award honors research excellence, including all scholarly, creative and scientific activities.
The Marguerite Scruggs Award for Meritorious Early Career Research was presented to Dr. Sam Emerson, assistant professor of nutritional sciences. The award recognizes faculty whose early career achievements demonstrate outstanding potential to become distinguished faculty in the future.
Dr. Ki Cole, associate professor of research, evaluation, measurement and statistics, was honored with the Teaching Excellence Award. The award recognizes full-time faculty members who have evidenced unusually significant and meritorious achievement in instruction.
Dr. Kelley Rhoads, assistant professor of health education and promotion (public health), received the Undergraduate Research Mentor Award. The award recognizes Rhoads’ exceptional performance as a research mentor.
Staff Awards
The College presented two Staff Star Awards to Rachel Eng, manager in marketing and communications, and Delaina Goforth, administrative support specialist for the Department of Design, Housing and Merchandising (DHM). The Star Award honors individuals who are considered all-around stars by their department as well as to those outside their immediate work group.
Mary Mach received the Staff Creativity and Innovation Award, given to staff members whose big ideas and creative thinking help address challenges in the college. Mach is a senior academic advisor for elementary education, career and technical education and secondary education programs.
The Staff Mentor Award was presented to Melissa White, research administration operations manager. The award recognizes staff members who have mentored colleagues to reach their fullest potential in the college and in their career.
RuthAnn Sirbaugh, manager of continuing and professional education, received the Morsani Staff Service Award. The Morsani Award honors an exceptional level of loyal service, leadership and commitment to OSU.
