College of Education and Human Sciences honors 2024 Hall of Fame inductees, Outstanding Alumni

The Oklahoma State University College of Education and Human Sciences welcomed two new members to its Hall of Fame and honored two Outstanding Alumni Award recipients during the 2024 Hall of Fame event on April 26.

Drs. Pamela Fry and Kelly Roberts were inducted to the CEHS Hall of Fame, and Dr. Gabrielle Jones and Linda Manaugh were presented with Outstanding Alumni Awards.

The Hall of Fame Awards represents the college’s most prestigious honor for alumni, given in recognition of outstanding professional and personal achievements that have brought honor and distinction to the college and to the university as well as have made a significant and lasting contribution, consistent with the mission of OSU and the CEHS.

Dr. Pamela Fry
Dr. Pamela Fry

Dr. Pamela Martin Fry is an esteemed leader in higher education who has dedicated over three decades of service to advancing OSU.

After earning her Ed.D. from OSU in 1989, Fry took on pivotal roles including faculty member, department head, dean, vice provost, interim provost and eventually president of OSU-Tulsa. In these positions, she spearheaded transformative initiatives that expanded educational access and improved student outcomes. 

Her accomplishments included establishing OSU's Office of Student Success, developing the Veteran and Transfer Center, and creating partnerships between OSU-Tulsa and Tulsa Community College to increase bachelor's degree opportunities. 

Fry's innovative leadership significantly enhanced student representation, boosted graduation rates, grew enrollments and achieved fiscal stability for OSU. She has mentored countless students and colleagues throughout her prolific career. 

Her visionary contributions have garnered prestigious honors, including induction into the Oklahoma Higher Education Heritage Society Hall of Fame. 

Through decades of service and tireless advocacy, Fry has brought great distinction to her alma mater while advancing educational excellence and equity statewide.

Dr. Kelly Roberts is a distinguished leader in marriage and family therapy, with over two decades of accomplishments in clinical practice, research, teaching and policy advocacy.

After earning her Ph.D. in human sciences from OSU in 2013, she has served as faculty at the University of North Texas and Oklahoma Christian University. 

As a clinician, Roberts has provided therapy to thousands of individuals, couples and families. Her research has received millions in grant funding and yielded numerous publications on topics like respite care for adoptive families. 

She is a tireless champion for her profession, spearheading pivotal legislation at the state and national levels. In Oklahoma, Roberts led efforts to pass the Freedom of Choice Act, requiring insurance coverage of therapy services, and the law mandating divorce education for divorcing parents. Nationally, she successfully advocated for adding marriage and family therapists as Medicare providers. 

Roberts has held leadership roles with the Oklahoma and American Associations for Marriage and Family Therapy. She serves on boards for organizations like Family Builders of Oklahoma. In 2022, she founded Oklahoma Christian University's new Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program. 

With her unwavering dedication to excellence, service and advocacy, Roberts embodies the Cowboy spirit of her alma mater. Her pioneering contributions have expanded access to mental healthcare and strengthened families in Oklahoma and nationwide. 

Outstanding Alumni 

The Outstanding Alumni award honors alumni who have demonstrated a distinguished career and continue to make impactful contributions to their profession and beyond. Their quest for excellence is shown through their accomplishments, service to the community and leadership. 

Dr. Gabrielle Jones
Dr. Gabrielle Jones

Dr. Gabrielle Jones is an accomplished psychologist recognized for her leadership, clinical expertise, and dedication to inclusion.

After earning her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Oklahoma State University in 2015, she has taken on clinical and administrative roles focused on integrated healthcare and substance use treatment. 

As a clinician, Jones has provided culturally responsive therapy and crisis intervention to diverse populations in community and hospital settings. She is an expert in substance use disorders, co-occurring diagnoses and family engagement. 

Jones founded Steady Clinical Consultation, Training & Development, which provides services related to diversity, equity, mental health and addiction treatment. 

She has held numerous leadership positions, including membership of the California Psychological Association. 

Jones is also an author, researcher and engaging presenter on topics like racial equity, LGBTQ issues and adolescent substance use. Her book, "Culturally Responsive Substance Use Treatment," was published in 2023, and she will receive the 2024 American Society of Addiction Medicine’s Award for Diversity and Inclusion. 

With her commitment to excellence, compassion and social justice, Jones exemplifies the values of service, integrity and diversity instilled at OSU. Though early in her career, she has already made a remarkable impact as a leader, clinician, researcher and role model.

Linda Manaugh
Linda Manaugh

Linda Manaugh is an accomplished leader in education with over 50 years of experience in Oklahoma.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in special education from OSU in 1971, she dedicated her career to advancing educational excellence and improving student outcomes. 

Her influential roles have included special education teacher, gifted education and special technology projects coordinator, instructional technology coordinator, director of grants and federal programs, and chief programs officer at the Potts Family Foundation. 

At the foundation, Manaugh oversees impactful early childhood, resilience and community wellbeing programs. She pioneered the NEAR Science Training Community, promoting trauma-informed practices statewide.

Manaugh's unwavering advocacy and leadership have shaped Oklahoma's educational landscape. She has bridged divides and fostered collaboration between educators, agencies, policymakers and partners. Her focus on innovation and excellence has expanded opportunities for all students. 

With her boundless passion, visionary approach and lifelong dedication, Manaugh embodies the values of OSU. Her trailblazing career has left an enduring and transformative legacy across Oklahoma.
