OSU Veterinary Center Hires New Hospital Director

Thursday, June 28, 2018

Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences has named J. Jeff Studer, DVM, DACVO, as new director of its Boren Veterinary Medical Hospital.

“I am delighted that Dr. Studer has accepted our offer,” said Dr. Carlos Risco, dean of the veterinary center. “He will provide insightful leadership in best practices for the operation of the Hospital and innovative programs to better serve our clients and referring veterinarians. I am excited to have him join our team.”

A 2006 graduate of OSU’s veterinary program, Studer is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. He comes to OSU from BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Oklahoma City where he served as medical director and veterinary ophthalmologist. Prior to that, Studer spent five years as a veterinary ophthalmologist at The Animal Ophthalmology Clinic in Dallas.

“In my previous appointments, I have helped build healthy cultures rooted in collaboration and collegiality, have grown caseloads and improved patient care. All of this was made possible because of relationships I built with fellow leaders, clinicians, technicians, assistants, receptionists, referring veterinarians, clients and the community,” said Studer. “As Hospital director, I plan to build similar relationships and create similar results in order to solidify the OSU Veterinary Medical Hospital as the preeminent veterinary referral and training center in the state of Oklahoma and surrounding states.”

As Hospital director, Studer will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the facility. Not subsidized by the University, OSU’s Veterinary Medical Hospital must generate income to cover its operating costs. Studer comes on board July 1.
