CEAT professors researching solar-powered desalination technology for oil and gas industry

Researchers in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology are beginning a three-year project to develop advanced solar-powered desalination technology to treat produced water from the oil and gas industry. Negative aspects of produced water are that it can include things like oil, grease and salts. It can also contain dissolved gases and radioactive materials.

Dr. Mari Chinn, department head of the School of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering and Dr. Guiping Hu, department head of the School of Industrial Engineering and Management have been selected for the Class of 2024-2025 of Drexel University’s Executive Leadership in Academic Technology, Engineering and Science (ELATES) program. The ELATES program is a national leadership development program designed to promote women in academic STEM fields, and faculty allies of all genders, into institutional leadership roles.

Chemical engineering professor Kim receives NSF award

Dr. Seokjhin Kim, associate professor in the School of Chemical Engineering at Oklahoma State University, has received a National Science Foundation award totaling $299,000 to fund his research on designing pore-engineered membranes using a novel approach that allows dynamic changes to the membrane structure during gas separation testing.
