King named 2024 Gentle Doctor award winner

Dr. Lindsay King grew up loving the outdoors and science, being a veterinarian never crossed her mind. After realizing she could use her passion for science and medicine in the veterinary field, King started working as a receptionist, which later led to her starting as a veterinary assistant at a local small animal clinic and ultimately the recipient of the 2023 OSU Gentle Doctor award.

A fireball crashed through Earth's mesosphere in the early hours of Jan. 20, 2023. Pushed by immense pressure, the fireball’s direction was arbitrarily set to North America, eventually landing in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The mysterious phenomenon was soon discovered to be a rare meteorite falling from space. Dr. Kat Gardner-Vandy, Oklahoma State University assistant professor of aviation and space and Choctaw citizen, was called in to evaluate the mysterious rock.
