OSU police chief announces retirement

After nearly 30 years on the job, Oklahoma State University Police Chief Leon Jones has announced his impending retirement. His last day with the OSUPD will be July 31.

Every day a law enforcement officer puts on the uniform, there’s a chance they could be faced with a life-or-death decision. These split-second decisions are difficult to train for unless officers are subjected to high-stress situations that replicate the conditions. The Oklahoma State University Police Department now has a new tool that can do just that, thanks to the Division of Institutional Diversity, which purchased a training simulator with privately raised funds.

OSUPD offers self-defense course for women

The Oklahoma State University Police Department is offering a basic physical self-defense training course for women in March. The Rape Aggression Defense System teaches realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. Classes will be held in the OSU Colvin Center, room MP2. Classes are scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 23, 26, 30 and April 2.
