Rep. Kyle Hilbert of Bristow, Oklahoma, was awarded the Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture 2024 Alumni Early Career Achievement Award. The Ferguson College Alumni Society Board recognized Hilbert for his achievements at the annual Scholarships and Awards Banquet on April 4.

Hilbert received his bachelor’s degree in agribusiness from the Ferguson College in 2016. As a student, his roles included student academic mentor, college ambassador and Student Council vice president of business affairs. He also served as OSU’s Student Government Association President and was named an OSU Outstanding Senior.

“As a student in the Ferguson College, I was given every opportunity to grow as a person and be prepared to serve in the state legislature,” Hilbert said. “My education and leadership experiences were instrumental and the relationships with my professors in the college are those I still cherish to this day.”

During his senior year at OSU, Hilbert was encouraged to campaign for state representative. He was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2016 and is currently serving his fourth term as a state representative for House District 29.

“Kyle’s work serving Oklahoma as a state representative is commendable,” said Justin Anderson, president of the Ferguson College Alumni Society Board. “He is not only giving back to the state of Oklahoma but also advocates for the future of the agriculture industry and educational opportunities for students in our state.”

During his time as a legislator, Hilbert has carried more than 40 bills signed into law. In 2022, Hilbert was elected by his colleagues to the position of Speaker Pro Tempore of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. In March 2024, he was elected by the House Republican Caucus to serve as Speaker-Designate, in line to serve as the next Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Hilbert remains connected to the Department of Agricultural Economics by serving as a guest speaker in a variety of classes. He also mentors Ferguson College agricultural legislative interns at the State Capitol as well as students who are interested in policy and legislative careers.

“The network and support of the Ferguson College has continued to impact me in my career,” Hilbert said. “I am humbled to receive this award and be considered among previous recipients and their accomplishments.”
