The 42nd Annual Student Juried Exhibition is now open at the Gardiner Gallery of Art in the Bartlett Center on Oklahoma State University’s Stillwater campus.

Open to students from all levels of undergraduate studies in studio art and graphic design, the highly competitive juried exhibition celebrates the artistic excellence achieved by students while at OSU. The exhibition showcases artworks by 48 students spanning each discipline within the Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History, with pieces ranging from motion animation to ceramic sculpture.

“The juried exhibition prepares students to submit their artwork for exhibitions beyond OSU and recognizes the immense talent we have in the department,” said Gardiner Gallery director Lindsay Aveilhe. “It takes persistence and a bit of vulnerability to continually share your work, but this is what builds the resiliency needed for a career in art or design.”

The works featured in the show were selected by two jurors: Steven McCarthy, professor emeritus at the University of Minnesota, juried the graphic design portion, and Marwin Begaye, associate professor of painting and printmaking at the University of Oklahoma, juried studio art.

“Through the investment made by students to explore their media, push their prowess with techniques, and diverse conceptual topics, I can see what a bright future lies ahead for the arts in Oklahoma,” Begaye said.

The 42nd Annual Student Juried Exhibition is on view through May 5. A reception and Art Department Award Ceremony will take place from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, April 23, during which winners of the Annual Student Juried Exhibition and the Sarah J. Clark Memorial Scholarship in graphic design and printmaking will be announced. Outstanding seniors in studio art, graphic design and art history will also be recognized.
