OSU to host U.S. Physicists’ Tournament Dec. 18-19

The Oklahoma State University Department of Physics is hosting the U.S. Physicists’ Tournament in Stillwater on Dec. 18 and 19. An interdisciplinary OSU team will be competing against the University of Arizona to advance.

International Recognition: Art department faculty co-create award-winning work

Oklahoma State University’s Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History professors Nick Mendoza and Pouya Jahanshahi recently won the “Cultural” category at the Intercontinental Bienal Awards for their poster design. “It was a sweet surprise,” Jahanshahi said. “It is an honor to be chosen as the best in a category among many entries from across the globe.” The competition received 19,543 submissions from 17,125 artists ranging from package design to sculpture to painting.

Faculty members from Oklahoma State University’s College of Arts and Sciences; College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology; and Ferguson School of Agriculture were recently awarded a $460,000 grant from the National Science Foundation Major Research Instrumentation Program to acquire the Advanced Low-altitude Earth Observing System, an unoccupied aircraft system-based instrument.

Art department professor Mendoza takes home prize for movie poster design

Nick Mendoza of the Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History at Oklahoma State University recently received a silver award from the United States International Poster Biennial. Professor Mendoza’s poster, which he designed for the 2022 film “The Integrity of Joseph Chambers,” was one of 285 pieces chosen for the biennial show from among 7,380 entries.

Gettysburg tells the story of more than a battle − military park shows what national ‘reconciliation’ looked like for decades after Civil War

On Nov. 19, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln traveled to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to dedicate a cemetery at the site of the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. Four months before, about 50,000 soldiers had been killed, wounded or captured at the Battle of Gettysburg, later seen as a turning point in the war.
