OSU researcher working to learn more about Chagas disease

Kelly Allen, MS, Ph.D., an assistant professor of veterinary parasitology at OSU’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences (OSU-CVHS) whose research focuses on vector-borne diseases, is working to learn more about Chagas disease in Oklahoma.

Arthritic joints not just a problem in people

Medical researchers debate the precise mechanism, but the association between cold weather and intensified joint pain is well known to people with degenerative joint disease, or osteoarthritis (OA). And those suffering are many. According to a long-running study conducted by researchers at the University of North Carolina, nearly 50 percent of people aged 45 years or older experience OA-related knee pain, and for people living to the age of 85, one out of four will develop symptomatic OA in one or both hip joints.

Lacombe Elected to International Scientific Board

Oklahoma State University’s Véronique A. Lacombe, DVM, has been elected as a full member of the Board of the International Society for Heart and Vascular Metabolism. Her three-year term begins in June with the society’s 17th annual international meeting. The society is at the vanguard of biomedical research in metabolic homeostasis, an expanding field across many areas, including the cardiovascular arena.
