Meet Brett Stout, Kellyville school counselor

As a high school science teacher, Brett Stout saw his students struggling with complex issues. Wanting to connect with his students more and provide them resources to heal, he pursued a master’s in mental health counseling from OSU. As a two-time OSU graduate, Stout is making a difference for Kellyville Public Schools students.

Meet Sara Mahan, outpatient services program manager

Sara Mahan was recently named Program Director of the Year by Counseling and Recovery Services of Oklahoma (CRSOK). In 2015, she graduated from Oklahoma State University with a master’s in counseling, equipping her to become a licensed professional counselor. Mahan has worked for CRSOK for more than five years and advanced to a supervisory role.

OSU Graduate Students Awarded $8,000 Counseling Fellowship

The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Foundation recently selected two Oklahoma State University graduate students for the NBCC Minority Fellowship Program-Youth (MFP-Y). Chabreal Atkins McDaniel and Y. Ade Bakare will each receive $8,000 to support their education and facilitate their service to underserved minority populations, with a specific focus on transition-age youth (ages 16-25).
