More than 300 Oklahoma State University New Frontiers donors and Ferguson College of Agriculture faculty, staff, alumni and friends gathered to celebrate Cowboy football and the construction progress of the new home for OSU Agriculture.

The OSU Foundation partnered with OSU Agriculture to host the third annual New Frontiers Tailgate on Sept. 16 before the Cowboy football game against South Alabama. The event featured a meet-and-greet with OSU Agriculture Vice President and Dean Jayson Lusk.

“The New Frontiers Tailgate is an excellent tradition to celebrate the progress of New Frontiers Agricultural Hall,” Dr. Lusk said. “It was an honor and a tremendous opportunity for me to meet and greet alumni, friends and New Frontiers supporters at the event. We look forward to next year when we can celebrate the completion of our new home.”

Not only did tailgate goers see the construction site from the tailgate tent, but they also got to enjoy a sweet treat from Larry and Kay’s Dairy Bar.

The Dairy Bar was a staple on OSU’s Stillwater campus from 1928 until 2006. The New Frontiers Agricultural Hall will feature a re-envisioned Dairy Bar for future Cowboys to enjoy when the building opens next fall.

Matt and Kristine Waits are major gift donors to the New Frontiers campaign and attended this year’s tailgate.

“We are proud to be a part of the New Frontiers campaign, and the new building is something that is overdue and needed,” said Matt Waits, a 1999 OSU agricultural economics graduate. “It’s great they are bringing back the Dairy Bar. It has a long history, and everyone who went through the ag college has fond memories of their time at the Dairy Bar.”

This year’s sponsors included the Oklahoma Beef Council, Enid Brewing Co. and an anonymous donor.

The New Frontiers campaign was launched in January 2020 to build a new state-of-the-art facility for OSU Agriculture. The New Frontiers Agricultural Hall, expected to open in fall 2024, further advances teaching, research and Extension efforts that are critical to the state’s economy, citizens’ safety and quality of life. By advancing OSU Agriculture and its programs, New Frontiers is fostering innovation to help feed the world.
