In order to increase Tulsa’s offering of behavioral health services and achieve long-term local retention of behavioral health professionals, Oklahoma State University Medical Authority (OSUMA) has established a one-time grant program to launch or support initiatives that recruit or train behavioral health clinicians and other behavioral health staff working in the City of Tulsa.

Second-year OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine student Sachi Pathak wants to not only treat patients as a physician, but also find ways to cure their illnesses through research. Her skills in a lab earned her a summer internship this year at the National Institutes of Health, where she was one of only 50 medical students from across the country accepted into the prestigious research internship program.

Oklahoma State University’s Human Performance and Nutrition Research Institute is working to tackle one of the biggest topics in sports safety today — concussions. The recently launched Athletic Training-Sports Management ECHO kicked off its series on concussions Aug. 9 with a session on the assessment and diagnosis of concussions. The session covered the newest research and publications on diagnosing concussions and the new standard definition of concussions along with a case presentation.

The Center for Indigenous Health Research and Policy (CIHRP) at OSU Center for Health Sciences recently received a $3.5 million donation from Novo Nordisk Inc., to fund the Indigenous Foodways and Health Initiative.
