The Biennial Faculty Exhibition opened at Oklahoma State University’s Gardiner Gallery of Art Aug. 19, featuring work from full-time, adjunct and emeriti faculty members within OSU’s Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History. “There is a saying that goes something like this: artists make art for other artists,” said Andy Mattern, a faculty member whose photography samples are on display. “Of course, we want general audiences to connect with our work as well, but when your peers look closely and recognize your efforts, it is something special.”

Prairie Arts Center launches new season of youth programming

The Prairie Arts Center will kick off its fall youth programming on Aug. 27 with the first Art Academy class of the 2024-25 academic year. Art Academy is an after-school course designed for students who wish to explore and grow their artistic aptitude. Students learn and practice foundational skills in the visual arts and are exposed to various 2D and 3D mediums. Art Academy students also develop strong visual literacy and critical thinking skills by viewing and discussing their own artwork and the artwork of others.

Physics’ Meyers granted NSF CAREER award for crystal structure research

Computer Science's Pu receives NSF grant for Internet of Drones systems research

Chemistry’s Schnitzler awarded NSF grant for atmospheric aerosol research

Oklahoma State University assistant professor of chemistry Dr. Elijah Schnitzler recently received a National Science Foundation CAREER award for his project “Origin and Evolution of the Light Absorption of Biomass Burning Aerosol.” Schnitzler’s work centers around atmospheric aerosols, or suspensions of tiny nanoparticles in the air. His research aims to increase understanding of how atmospheric aerosols affect air quality and climate, which are “two major public health concerns in the U.S. and around the world,” he said.

Chemistry’s Pitre awarded NSF CAREER award

Dr. Spencer Pitre, an Oklahoma State University Department of Chemistry professor, was awarded a $679,955 CAREER award from the National Science Foundation to fund research on the development of cobalt catalysts that generate radicals from non-traditional precursors using visible light irradiation.
