OSU wins national diversity honor for 10th straight year

OSU has been named a recipient of the 2021 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. With that, OSU has become one of just seven schools to receive the honor for a 10th year in a row.

Oklahoma State University student Alicia Cornelius is one of 10 students in the nation to be awarded a 2021 Power Your Education Scholarship for $10,000 from the audit, tax and consulting firm RSM US LLP and the RSM US Foundation. The national program awarded a total of $100,000 in tuition assistance to university students to support the next generation of business and technology professionals.

Poli Sci and Philosophy double major Payton Dougherty named an Outstanding Senior

Payton Dougherty of Yukon, Oklahoma, was recently recognized as one of 22 Outstanding Seniors for 2020-21 by the OSU Alumni Association. The Political Science (Honors) and Philosophy double major also minored in Law and Legal Studies and got involved with organizations ideal for someone with her eyes set on law school.

Biochemistry and Microbiology double major Sergio Mares named an Outstanding Senior

Sergio Mares — who moved to Stillwater from Mexico at age 16 — will graduate with dual degrees in Biochemistry and Microbiology/Cell and Molecular Biology, along with minors in Spanish, Chemistry and Plant Biology. As if earning multiple degrees wasn’t hard enough, he also worked full time doing construction, painting and home remodeling during what proved to be a “financially stressful” 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
