Billboard magazine names OSU a top music business school for second year

For the second year in a row, Oklahoma State University’s music industry program was recognized as a top music business school by Billboard magazine. The music industry program — which is part of the Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music — is featured in the October 2023 issue of Billboard. The magazine selected its top music business schools based on the criteria of industry recommendations, alumni information and details requested from each school. OSU was listed alongside 41 other accredited schools, including Abbey Road Institute, California Institute of the Arts and New York University.

Dr. Lucia Unrau named new director of Greenwood School of Music

Oklahoma State University’s Greenwood School of Music (GSM) concluded a national search for its new director with the recent appointment of Dr. Lucia Unrau. In addition to her degrees in piano performance from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, Indiana University and the University of Texas at Austin, Unrau brings decades of experience to OSU as a successful administrator and well-respected pianist pedagogue.

OSU students face off in battle of the bands contest

The contest, affectionately titled ABC, (anything but classical), allowed students within the Greenwood School of Music to showcase their talents and passions for live music. Students are paired together and tasked with coming up with a set list of various songs across the decades of music, along with one original tune.

More Than a Memory: Brooks returns to OSU to offer insights on music industry

OSU Opera Theatre wins third in National Opera Association competition

The National Opera Association (NOA) recently announced that Oklahoma State University Opera Theatre’s 2021-2022 production of Handel’s Rinaldo won third place in Division II of the NOA Production Competition. The Opera Theatre program, part of the Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music, will receive the award at the NOA’s 68th Annual National Conference in Houston in January.
