Hess has spent career serving students and building institutions

Jim Hess has had a prolific career in higher education spanning over four decades before he was inducted into the Oklahoma Education Hall of Fame in 2023 and named the 20th president of the OSU System this spring.

OSU remembers former president Dr. John Roy Campbell

The Oklahoma State University family is mourning the loss of its 15th president, Dr. John Roy Campbell, who died Nov. 17 at the age of 85. Campbell, a champion for education and the mission of land-grant universities, served as president of OSU from 1988 until 1993. He resigned the presidency to teach in OSU's College of Agriculture and to resume writing.

Hargis was unanimously chosen by the Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents as the 18th president of Oklahoma State University in December 2007 and officially took office on March 10, 2008.

OSU’s Burns Hargis to perform at campus jazz concert

Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis will join the OSU Jazz Orchestra on the piano for a cameo performance at a concert that will also feature the OSU Jazz Ensemble and an after-party celebrating the jazz orchestra’s first commercially-released album, “Solid Gold,” on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Seretean Center Concert Hall.

OSU/A&M Regents unanimously choose Hargis as next president of OSU and OSU System

The nine-member OSU/A&M Board of Regents voted unanimously to select Oklahoma civic and business leader Vaden Burns Hargis as the 18th president of Oklahoma State University and the more than 32,000-student OSU system. The Board of Regents met in a special meeting this morning in the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center on the OSU-Stillwater campus.
