Experiences shape OSU-COM med student, national scholarship recipient

Emily Sowah is a fourth-year student at OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is also a non-traditional medical student with the chronic illness sickle cell anemia whose family immigrated from Ghana. She was recently awarded the William G. Anderson, DO, Minority Scholarship from the American Osteopathic Foundation.

Dr. Adam Smith, a bariatric surgeon and founder of Ultimate Bariatrics, donated $250,000 to establish the Adam B. Smith, DO, DFACOS Family Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship aims to support students from north Texas pursuing their medical education at OSU-COM.
