The Cowboy Way: Lee Manzer

A native of Hominy, Oklahoma, Manzer arrived at OSU in 1959. He completed his bachelor’s degree in chemistry, earned a master’s in business and later added a doctorate. After a stint at Dow Chemical, Manzer returned to OSU in 1975 to teach, and he’s been here ever since.

STILLWATER, Oklahoma – A spider wasp, scorpion and other creepy crawlies of the “extremely painful sting” variety had been elected by Wyatt Hoback’s Oklahoma State University entomology class: the stinging sensation winning the majority of the 270 student votes cast would get to puncture the teacher.

The method continues to work for Angle, now an associate professor in science education, as she was recognized with the Oklahoma State University Regents’ Distinguished Teaching Award for 2015. The award is given to one faculty member in each college each year. Recipients must have evidenced unusually significant and meritorious achievement in the instruction of students for a number of years. Though Angle has received numerous accolades through her career, the Regents’ award has a special meaning.
