English instructor publishes poetry anthology featuring emerging voices

Dr. Remi Recchia, a programs coordinator and adjunct composition instructor with Oklahoma State University's Department of English, recently contributed to contemporary literature with the publication of his anthology, “Transmasculine Poetics: Filling the Gap in Literature & the Silences Around Us." The poetic anthology, released through Sundress Publications, features the works of transmasculine poets, the second ever to exclusively highlight transmasculine voices.

The Biennial Faculty Exhibition opened at Oklahoma State University’s Gardiner Gallery of Art Aug. 19, featuring work from full-time, adjunct and emeriti faculty members within OSU’s Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History. “There is a saying that goes something like this: artists make art for other artists,” said Andy Mattern, a faculty member whose photography samples are on display. “Of course, we want general audiences to connect with our work as well, but when your peers look closely and recognize your efforts, it is something special.”

Prairie Arts Center launches new season of youth programming

The Prairie Arts Center will kick off its fall youth programming on Aug. 27 with the first Art Academy class of the 2024-25 academic year. Art Academy is an after-school course designed for students who wish to explore and grow their artistic aptitude. Students learn and practice foundational skills in the visual arts and are exposed to various 2D and 3D mediums. Art Academy students also develop strong visual literacy and critical thinking skills by viewing and discussing their own artwork and the artwork of others.
