Going Global: OSU student shares food safety abroad

Jaymee Zabienski, an Oklahoma State University biosystems and agricultural engineering graduate student from Tulsa, served two weeks this summer as the needed volunteer on a Farmer-to-Farmer mission trip to Jamaica for the U.S. Agency for International Development. This project was designed to help budding agricultural-based Jamaican companies create a facility meeting the standards of Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points, while also expanding the economic opportunity of their rural community.

Accompanying the end of the summer months comes the start of a new school year. Amidst the hustle and bustle of packing lunches and snacks for students, families sometimes lose sight of something that should be a priority in their household: food safety. The easiest way to promote food safety at home is through proper handling and storage, said Ravi Jadeja, food safety specialist for the Oklahoma State University Robert M.
